Meet the Trainers
Akiyo Kinst-Hori, personal fitness trainer (elite)
Akiyo believes that exploring movement is one of the greatest ways to learn about yourself and life.
Education: BA in integrative biology, University of California at Berkeley
Certifications: American College of Sports Medicine, Health Fitness Instructor
Areas of Specialization: Body conditioning and strength training with an emphasis on body awareness, mechanisms of movement and coordination.
Personal Philosophy: My focus is moving the whole body. Understanding the movement of how our bodies are “designed” to move and function. As a result, we move more efficiently, effortlessly, and gracefully!
For basic athletic conditioning, I utilize my knowledge and experience in martial arts and dance with plyometrics, footwork, and agility drills. I work with clients to make sure the exercise routine and types match their needs, interests, and also their personalities. We all have different activities and exercises that we enjoy and feel right doing; it is my job to help clients find that.
Some of my interests have a big effect on my approach and training style, such as holistic medicine, combative sports, plus dancing and music. I enjoy working with different types of people with different backgrounds, in different stages of life, and with different lifestyles. People’s lives and diversity are very inspiring to me.
