Massage Techniques

Swedish-Esalen

This technique helps to eliminate muscle aches and tension while enhancing circulation, posture, body awareness, and deep relaxation. It uses a variety of strokes and rhythmic, circular kneading combined with passive shaking, stretching, and moving the joints through their full range of motion.

Deep Tissue

This term refers to various massage styles that are directed toward the deeper tissue structures of the muscle and fascia. In most deep tissue massage techniques, the aim is to affect the various layer of fascia that support muscle tissues and loosen bonds between the layers of connective tissues.

Shiatsu

Shiatsu, the most widely known form of acupressure, has been practiced for more than a thousand years in Japan. A unique form of bodywork, Shiatsu helps you achieve balance by combining gentle, deep rhythmic pressure with yoga-like stretches. Palm or thumb pressure on energy points, muscle knots, or referred pain points releases energy flow, decreasing muscular pain and tension.

Sports Massage

Sports massage can help heal and prevent injuries and improve your athletic performance. It combines several massage styles with fingers and thumbs moving firmly across tendons, muscles, or tension points.

Thai Massage

Thai massage is an interactive form of bodywork using passive stretching and gentle pressure along energy lines. Practitioners apply pressure along meridian lines to stimulate the movement of energy in the body, and also move and stretch their clients in yoga-like poses to free muscular and joint tension. Designed to be both relaxing and stimulating, Thai massage improves flexibility, reduces tension, stimulates internal organs, and balances the body’s energy system.

Pregnancy Massage

Pregnancy places strong demands on a woman’s body and is a time for the body to be nurtured and pampered. This massage will help relieve the tensions and aches caused by extra weight and a shift in the body’s center of gravity. It will also help reduce swelling, soothe the nervous system, reduce fatigue, and enhance energy.

Reflexology

Dating back thousands of years, reflexology is based on the ancient Oriental theory that meridian lines or pathways carry energy throughout the body. Each zone or part of the body has a corresponding reflex point on the feet, hands, and ears. Stimulating those points through reflexology causes natural energy flow and relaxation to the related body part.
