Etiquette

When taking a group exercise class, we ask you to respect the following guidelines, as a courtesy to your instructor and fellow students, as well as for your own health and safety.

Proper Attire

  • For safety reasons, proper athletic footwear is recommended. Please refrain from wearing black-soled running shoes.

Prior to Class

  • Please come to class free of cologne and perfume
  • Bring any liquids in unbreakable plastic bottles
  • Set cell phones to “silent” or “vibrate” or refrain from bringing them to class
  • We recommend the use of towels, which are readily available in the Fitness Center and throughout the Club

Class Arrival

  • Arrive with ample time to set up equipment before class begins
  • Before entering the studio, make sure the previous class has fully ended
  • Plan to stay for the duration of your class. The warm-up and cool-down periods are important components of every class.
  • Be considerate of other students’ space. Avoid crowding in front of or behind a student who has arrived before you.
  • You may not reserve places for other participants in the group exercise or cycling studios
  • Please let your instructor know before class if you are pregnant or have any injuries

Late Arrival

  • For your own safety and the safety of class participants, please make it to class on time. By missing the warm-up period, you may risk injury.

During and After Class

  • Follow the instructor’s directions and movements. This will help prevent injury and give you better results. Stop if a movement causes you discomfort. Your instructor can provide you with modifications throughout the class.
  • Please be courteous and return weights and equipment to their proper storage locations. Put all equipment away neatly.

Children’s Policy

  • Please enroll children under 13 in the appropriate youth programs. Adult classes, including cycling, are intended for ages 13 and up.
  • Children ages 13 through 15 may take classes after obtaining approval from our group exercise director
  • Children ages 16 and up may take group exercise classes without adult accompaniment
